Just you, me and some lovely silver clay!(However, if you would like to attend with a friend, this can be accomodated).
The Silver Clay Cabin is usually a one-to-one experience, so I can give you my undivided attention and tailor everything to you. However, I completely understand that getting creative together can be a lovely thing to do with a friend, and I'm more than happy to accommodate this!I can welcome a maximum of two participants at a time, keeping the experience relaxed, personal and enjoyable. The second participant is offered a special discounted rate, simply to cover the cost of their additional materials.Just mention that you'd like to come together when you enquire, and we'll arrange something lovely!
Absolutely! Although The Silver Clay Cabin usually offers one-to-one experiences, I completely understand that making something beautiful together can be a lovely way to spend some quality time with your child. You might even like to make matching pieces of jewellery as a special keepsake of your time together!Children aged 12 and over are very welcome to attend alongside a parent or guardian, with a maximum of two participants per session. The second participant is offered a special discounted rate, simply to cover the cost of their additional materials.Just let me know when you enquire, and we can arrange a lovely creative experience for you both to enjoy!
My workshops are individual one off sessions, usually lasting around two to three hours, where you'll create a particular piece of silver jewellery. My courses take place over several sessions, giving you the opportunity to explore silver clay in greater depth, develop your skills and become more confident working independently. Both are suitable for beginners (other than the Intermediate Course which requires some prior experience of working with silver clay).
Silver clay is made from tiny particles of real recycled silver, an organic binder and water. It can be shaped, textured and moulded just like ordinary clay. Once it's fired (either with a small blow torch or in a kiln), the binder burns away, leaving behind beautiful, solid silver. It's a wonderful way to make jewellery, even if you've never tried anything creative before. I tend to work mostly with fine silver but silver clay also comes in sterling silver, base metals and gold!
Yes! All the silver clay, tools and materials you'll need for your chosen workshop or course are included in the price. There are no unexpected extras, and you'll have everything you need to create your jewellery. Additional silver clay will be available to purchase if you desire, but it certainly won't be necessary in order to make your chosen piece of jewellery.
Then you're in exactly the right place! You don't need to be artistic or naturally creative to enjoy working with silver clay. One of the loveliest things about one-to-one tuition is that we can take everything at your pace. I'll be there to help whenever you need me.And remember, handmade jewellery isn't about perfection. It's about making something that's uniquely yours.
Absolutely! That's one of the things I love most about teaching.Depending on the workshop or course you choose, there may be opportunities to incorporate meaningful textures, initials, shapes or other little details that make your jewellery personal to you.If you have a particular idea in mind, please mention it when you enquire so we can discuss what's possible.
