This course is suitable for students who have completed the Beginners Course and wish to expand on their skills and knowledge.

Week 1: Introduction and refresher

In Week 1, we will reacquaint ourselves with the basic skills and techniques of working with silver metal clay and identify any areas in which the student wishes to enhance their learning. The student will make a pendant or a pair of earrings.

Week 2: Working with gemstones

This week we will build on our knowledge of setting fire-in-place stones as well as learning how to set non-fireable stones.  The student will make a piece (or pieces) of jewellery of their choice, adorned with up to 5 gemstones of their choosing.

Week 3: Rings

In week 3, the student will make two rings from silver metal clay and will have the option to add a stone, embellishment and/or texture to each ring.

Week 4: Beautiful Bezels and Bails

This week we will build on our knowledge of making simple bezels and bails by learning how to make more intricate findings that add depth and character to our chosen piece of jewellery.

Week 5: Brooches

In week 5, students will make a beautiful brooch, creating a back plate, adding embellishments and discovering how to attach the pin and catch.

​

Week 6: The final project – student’s choice

This week the student will have creative freedom to creative a beautiful piece (or pieces) of jewellery of their choosing, using the skills they have developed throughout the course.

This course includes 10g of silver clay (in lump and/or syringe form) per week as well as all other tools and materials needed to complete the weekly projects. Additional clay is available to buy if desired [delete comma after desired] but is not needed in order to complete the projects described above.

On completion of this course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and may wish to enrol on the Advanced Course (coming in 2027).
